Everyone knows Snoopy. But not everyone knows his five siblings: Spike, Belle, Olaf, Andy and Marbles, each with their own distinct personality. Starting this month, fans will get to know Snoopy and his siblings in a whole new way.
Today, national nonprofit Best Friends Animal Society and Peanuts® announced a new partnership celebrating the unique personalities of pets in shelters and encouraging people to adopt their next character. Inspired by Snoopy and his siblings, the collaboration reminds people that every dog and cat is an individual waiting to be discovered by the right family.
The monthslong partnership will include events and activations, limited-edition merchandise, a PSA, and much more, all inspired by Snoopy's siblings and designed to help more pets find loving homes.
“We believe every pet deserves to be loved for exactly who they are,” said Julie Castle, CEO, Best Friends Animal Society. “Partnering with Peanuts gives Best Friends Animal Society an incredible opportunity to introduce the joys of adoption to new audiences through one of the world’s most beloved and recognizable brands. Together, we hope to inspire more people to visit their local shelter and experience the happiness and joy that only a pet can bring.”
Every year, millions of dogs and cats enter shelters across the United States, waiting for someone to recognize how special they are. According to data from Best Friends Animal Society, on any given day, an average of 500,000 dogs and cats are waiting in shelters nationwide. Best Friends Animal Society works alongside more than 6,000 shelter and rescue group partners working to end the killing of dogs and cats in America's shelters and make the country no-kill* which means saving every healthy or treatable pet in shelters. Through the power of one of the world’s most beloved brands, Best Friends Animal Society and Peanuts® hope to inspire more people to see every pet as individuals and to be loved for exactly who they are.
In celebration of the new partnership, Best Friends Animal Society will waive adoption fees in August at their brick-and-mortar locations across the country including Houston, Los Angeles, Northwest Arkansas, New York City, Salt Lake City, and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.
Throughout August, pet lovers can learn more about the partnership, watch the campaign PSA, explore adoptable pets, and sign up to get a first look at the limited-edition Peanuts and Best Friends Animal Society merchandise.
“As the home of the world’s most famous beagle and his band of siblings, Peanuts could not be more delighted to partner with Best Friends Animal Society in this wonderful project,” says Melissa Menta, Senior Vice President, Global Brand and Communications for Peanuts Worldwide. “Snoopy, Spike, Olaf, Marbles, Andy, and Belle prove that dogs come in all shapes and sizes with unique and loveable personalities.”

*No-kill is defined by a 90% save rate or greater for pets entering a shelter and is a meaningful and common-sense benchmark for measuring lifesaving progress. Typically, the number of pets who are suffering from irreparable medical or behavioral issues that compromise their quality of life and prevent them from being rehomed is not more than 10% of all dogs and cats entering shelters. For any community to be no-kill, all stakeholders in that community must work together to achieve and sustain that common goal while prioritizing community safety and good quality of life for pets as guiding no-kill principles. This means cooperation among animal shelters, animal rescue groups, government agencies, community members and other stakeholders, all committed to best practices and protocols.
