Description

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Specialist, Social Media for the Digital Marketing department. The main responsibility of this position is to assist key aspects of the social media program in accordance with the organization’s advocacy and fundraising goals.

This position will be responsible for:

- Assisting in the management and monitoring of HSUS social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn;
- Working with Account Manager to write, gather, edit and/or publish content (text, images, video, etc.) across platforms;
- Proactively optimizing all campaigns to improve engagement and KPIs;
- Aiding the social media team in monitoring and responding to comments;
- Working with internal stakeholders to develop appropriate responses to social conversations as needed;
- Working with Project Manager and Account Managers to update and maintain the social media section of Digital Marketing’ s confluence campaign reports and monthly recaps;
- Assessing the effectiveness of social media activity and clearly communicating the effectiveness/return on investment of campaigns to stakeholders;
- Working directly with the Senior Manager of Social Media to assist in developing campaign memos for handling social media campaigns and distribution to stakeholder the organization;
- Acting as a liaison and project manager with vendors hired to help with online acquisition and marketing efforts and internal program stakeholders to ensure that digital acquisition campaigns are successfully executed, and revenue goals are realized;
- Providing education and recommendations as needed to guide program advertising spending in order to maximize return on investment;
- Recording and processing advertising invoices through the proper internal channels so that vendors are paid on time;
- Conducting market research to gather information on constituents and other target markets.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required;
- Two years of experience in a marketing department, especially online marketing, preferred;
- Experience managing campaigns in Google AdWords and Facebook Business Manager preferred;
- Professional/effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and internet use;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task;
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment;
- Strong work ethic that demonstrates initiative, a focus on quality, and good judgment;
- Google Analytics and Google Grants knowledge preferred;
- Keen sense of strategy and project management skills preferred;
- Interest in animal protection issues a plus.
