We are seeking a Senior Marketing Director – Digital Engagement -  Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer, the Sr. Director of Digital Engagement is responsible for the division’s digital function, coordination of technology stack and digital engagement strategy to support the organization’s strategic goals. This is a senior-level marketing position responsible for the digital marketing and technology efforts.

This role will collaborate with Nationwide Children’s Marketing/PR peers, Information Services colleagues, internal clients and agency partners to provide digital expertise and ensure that campaigns meet expected goals.

This role will also articulate the overall vision and guide development efforts of digital/mobile strategy. The leader will interpret business goals and priorities, market trends and consumer insights into actionable strategies that align and accelerate success of the Marketing and Public Relations strategic plan.

  Digital Team Leadership

  • Leads the digital marketing team, working with colleagues and clients, aligned with brand standards, execution and budget.
  • Establishes vision and direction for digital engagement and experience across multiple audiences to align with strategic priorities and the Marketing/PR Strategic Plan
  • Maximize digital marketing ROI: Leverage strong analytics capabilities, collaborate with brand marketing and customer insights to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of our digital marketing budget across all channels.

Technology Stack

  • Lead an integrated approach across the multiple stakeholders who manage various applications within the MarComm Tech Stack to ensure coordinated on-time implementation and optimized use of these technologies to achieve strategic objectives
  • Support the evaluation process of new MarComm tech stack and mobile app technologies. Owned assets include any software related to Nationwide Children’s external websites, apps, social, SEO, SEM, Mobile and new technology that the department enables to support our strategic plan.
  • Lead ongoing assessment of current capabilities and the competitive position of digital features vs competitors in the market.

Liaison to IS

  • Support MarComm engagements with Information Services. Working in close contact and collaborating with IS Leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with IS Leadership to align appropriate support model (both human resources and capital funding) to support the CMS and the MarComm Tech stack
  • Works directly with CIO and IS leadership team on strategy, contract and implementation needs.


  • Collaborate with IS and other leaders to set the vision and implement a long-term plan for mobile app adoption across Nationwide Children’s.
  • Help establish business needs and standards for virtual visits, AI apps and Epic Integration into EDW.


What Are We Looking For?       

  • To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess these minimum qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelor s Degree plus 12+ years’ progressive experience in digital marketing settings utilizing marketing automation and technologies to building strategy with proven results.    Master’s degree preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Content Management Systems and preferably CRM (Healthgrades and SiteCore),
  • Healthcare experience or work within highly regulated businesses preferred.
  • Ability to take complex technical concepts and translate into understandable language and strategy for non-technical marketing team members.
  • Proven success with building and managing integrated digital teams, training direct reports. Experience with coalition building, bringing together cross functional teams and leading successful execution
  • High technical acumen focused on digital area, exceptional problem solving and critical thinking ability, skilled in agile and scaled agile framework processes, solid business background, and research and customer experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of integrated marketing and digital disciplines (including audience identification and analysis, targeting, experience design, digital production, and online analytics.)
  • Strong interpersonal communication, presentation and leadership skills to plan, organize and coordinate digital initiatives. Skills must include ability to interact/resolve problems with staff, managers, physicians, executives at all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated budget management expertise
