The Senior Manager of Strategic Gifts is responsible for supporting the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities of select donors and prospective high-net-worth donors of Special Olympics.  This detail-oriented position plays a direct role in the day-to-day functions related to key donors and stakeholders to ensure best-in-class relationship management, donor and prospect cultivation and solicitation. 
Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Gifts, the Senior Manager of Strategic Gifts will work closely with Corporate Partnerships, Communications, World Games, Regional fundraising teams, and Development staff across the movement to ensure the organization’s private fundraising needs are met.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Meet annual financial goals as defined by Senior Director of Strategic Gifts.
  • Manage and initiate the regular individualized and tailored outreach to a pool of prospects and donors (roughly 150 individuals) with both general and individualized stewardship/cultivation pieces.
  • Serve as a “donor advocate”, proactively suggesting information, events and issues for cultivation and stewardship that would advance relationship-building with existing and prospective donors through external media stories, internal organizational announcements, invitations to events and conferences, and similar engagements.
  • Oversee the processing and data management systems used to manage incoming strategic gifts, cross-collaboration with the finance, donor development, special events, program and legal departments to ensure that all gifts and information that come in from solicitations or known prospects are tracked and recorded appropriately.
  • Manage the individualized acknowledgement process for all gifts received as Strategic Gifts, ensuring that all Major Donors receive a personalized acknowledgement as needed.
  • Prepare reports on a regular and ad hoc basis from the data management systems to include revenue, activity and donor/prospect reports as requested.
  • Manage the day-to-day operational activities related to the Shriver Society strategy, including recruitment, acknowledgement, cultivation, and renewal process.
  • Other Duties as assigned.



  • History of soliciting and securing 6 and 7 figure gifts and building and maintaining long term relationships with donors or clients.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously with a high level of independence and initiative and significant inter and cross department collaboration and support.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and analyze complex information in a fast-paced work environment and juggling multiple assignments on deadline.
  • 5-7 years of previous experience in development operations, in particular research, stewardship, and annual fund-type efforts.
  • Experience in data management to inform cultivation, stewardship and solicitation efforts of donors and prospects is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and personal interaction skills.
  • A proactive and creative problem-solver; and a team player.
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to uphold deadline.
  • Must have solid computer skills (Experience with a donor development database, Salesforce, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Willingness and ability to travel independently.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Special Olympics experience at professional or volunteer level.
  • Experience with SalesForce
