Title: Global Strategic Partnerships Manager

Special Olympics International (SOI) seeks to form mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships with corporations that can offer reach and revenue to support the brand and its organizational priorities. Based on the Global Strategic Partnerships team, the manager position will focus on two major priorities:

  1. Assisting the team to cultivate, manage and fulfill existing corporate partnership commitments

  2. Managing, coordinating, and leading execution of Special Olympics recently launched Gaming for Inclusion esports platform

This position is funded via restricted funds set to expire after 2 years from the candidate’s start date. Based on the individual’s performance and available resources, the candidate may be considered for a permanent and/or extended position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Revenue & Partnership Fulfillment

  • Manages the fulfillment, renewal and continued growth of SOI corporate partners

  • Supports team members on larger partnership initiatives and in-person event executions

  • Designs and executes an annual development strategy to secure and generate a minimum of $250,000 toward the corporate team’s overall revenue goal

  • Prepares sponsorship requests, statements of work, presentations/proposals and other requests to solicit financial support along with budget relieving in-kind donations;

  • Collaborates with SOI functional programmatic leads and state based SO chapter executives on local partnership activations including promotions, programmatic deliverables, and employee engagement

  • Gaming

  • Support and manage the planning, logistics and execution of Special Olympics recently launched Gaming for Inclusion platform, including but not limited to: athlete registration, award management, event reporting, platform trainings & tutorials, and coordinating event collateral reviews.

  • Travel to be expected (10-15%); pending COVID-19 restrictions

  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3-5 years of experience in managing and growing corporate partnerships sponsorships, traditional grants and/or cause-related marketing.

  • An understanding of how nonprofit organizations are leveraging the gaming industry for fundraising and brand building

  • Demonstrated knowledge of recreational gaming best practices, the culture of championship play, tournament regulations and live-streaming production

  • Ability to work independently - capable of working on individual assignments for periods of time and making presentations/direct solicitations on behalf of SOI

  • Experience working with a variety of corporate-based divisions including, but not limited to foundations, marketing, CSR and sponsorship divisions

  • Demonstrated success driving revenue growth in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, writing and organizational skills

  • High energy, sense of humor, positive outlook and passion for team collaboration

  • Fluency with Canva design program, Salesforce and all Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Experience using Discord and tournament platforms like Smash.gg

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion in esports/gaming

  • Experience with corporate social responsibility and/or corporate philanthropic programs

  • Working knowledge of or experience with federated non-profit organizational structures
