Title: Associate Manager, Consumer Products (Hardlines)



The Opportunity:  The Associate Manager, Consumer Products (Hardline) is responsible for identifying and evaluating new business and product opportunities, negotiating and monitoring contracts, organizing the product development process, collaborating with Brand Integrity Team to resolve distribution, product development and product performance issues, provide support in development and implementation of marketing strategies, and may be responsible for hardlines licensee and category management.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Identifies and evaluates new business and product opportunities through research and analysis of trends and market opportunities; maintains communications with key partners to understand performance/trends, business opportunities and issues.

  • Assists in the negotiation of complex contracts and monitors contractual obligations; may also lead negotiations for assigned licensees.

  • Executes and follows up on licensing contract tasks related to assigned accounts including requesting and maintaining records of sell-in/ retail placement, forecasting, and collecting debt.

  • Organizes the product development process; maintains schedules & timelines for product design & development, maintaining key reference tools such as line lists and product, and image archives.

  • Collaborates with brand integrity team to resolve distribution, product development and product performance issues and assists licensees to achieve financial goals; acts as liaison between outside partners and internal departments.

  • May lead the development and implementation of marketing and other programs for assigned licensees to enable licensing businesses to meet/exceed objectives.

  • Provide support in various activities including marketing, PR, retail development, event management.

  • Assists in deal entry of contracts and entry of forecasts into relevant systems for processing. 

  • May be responsible for hardlines licensee and category management.

What We’re Looking For:


BA/BS,MB Preferred or 3-5 yrs of equivalent experience

Functional Knowledge

  • General knowledge of licensing industry; hardlines experience a plus.

  • General understanding of licensing processes and procedures as well as laws and regulations.

  • General knowledge of Mattel brands and strategies.

  • General understanding of the organizational structure and business objectives of licensees and other key business partners.

  • Effective negotiation skills.

  • Effective analytical and research skills and ability to identify trends.

  • General planning skills.
