Title: Manager, Consumer Products



Mattel is seeking a strategic Manager, Consumer Products to join our Consumer Products organization based in El Segundo, CA at our corporate headquarters. The Manager, Consumer Products will lead Lifestyle & Consumables categories and source new business opportunities. They will be responsible for identifying, pitching, securing and executing programs within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) space and other categories, as relevant.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Leads multiple CP categories and/or subcategories.

  • Accountable for establishing and meeting or exceeding licensing revenue plans for brands and categories.

  • Supports the development & execution of category strategies that include product roll-out, marketing and financial forecasts.

  • Completes regular analysis of business opportunities in assigned categories.

  • Reviews and analyzes industry competitive market data to identify gaps and opportunities for growth.

  • Pitches top industry partners to secure multi-year programs, focusing on FMCG/ consumables and other lifestyle categories.

  • Negotiates complex contracts and communicates deal terms to regional licensing teams, as needed.

  • Monitors contractual obligations and ensures efficient flow of forecasting, royalty reporting, renewals and audits.

  • Provides guidance to Franchise, Product Development and Approvals team and ensures sales and creative materials developed support the commercial needs of the business and drives incremental revenue.

  • Communicates active projects to Manager, Retail Development, Creative and Franchise teams for transparency and seamless coordination.

  • Works with commercial team counterparts (along with Manager) to ensure toy adjacent licensed products complement vertical lines and coordinates cross-category pitch presentations at retail.

  • Builds and manages ongoing internal & external relationships - with licensees, creative teams, and other business partners

  • May be responsible for recruiting, selection and career development of team members.


  • 8+ years of experience

  • Strong knowledge of licensing industry and/or retail landscape.

  • Strong presentation skills in both virtual and in-person settings.

  • Strong analytical/ research skills and ability to identify trends.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Thorough understanding of licensing processes and procedures as well as laws/regulations.

  • Thorough understanding of the organizational structure and business objectives of licensees and other key business partners.

  • Effective project management skills.

  • Developing knowledge of Mattel brands and strategies.

  • Ability to foster relationships in a highly matrixed organization.
