The Director, Memberships and Associations is responsible for selling, developing, expanding and managing national groups and organizations who participate in sponsorship programs and initiatives to advance the mission. Duties include identifying and pitching new business, budgeting, account management, implementing tactics, executing programs, and managing relationships at various levels within an organization.
This position is remote and travel is up to 25%.
Responsibilities
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Sells on new group and organizational partnerships and capitalizes on the value of those partnerships by stewarding and growing a portfolio that generates revenue and awareness for the mission. Must cultivate strong relationships by interfacing with executives and day-to-day contacts across non-profit, government and corporate entities.
Leads sales, planning and stewardship of targeted accounts for the Alzheimer’s Association. Sets program goals, projected outcomes, identifies target organizations and plans for budgetary needs of the program.
Serves as the primary contact for portfolio of groups and organizations; serves as a subject matter expert, advisor and liaison across chapter boundaries and home office departments to achieve goals.
Responsible for benchmarking annual revenue and developing appropriate revenue budget. Achieve year over year growth by increasing current revenue streams and identifying and implementing new opportunities.
Creates and develops sellable partnership and sponsorship assets and benefits. Creates and executes comprehensive strategies and monitors progress for sales activities for organizational partnership activations.
Develops, enhances, manages and serves in a sales and account management function with a high concentration in sales, marketing, public relations, creative thinking and fund development.
Collaborates dynamically with Association executives and vice presidents: Science, Policy, Operating, Legal, Programs, Development, DEI, Marketing, Mission & Field Operations to ensure Association alignment with industry supporters and to maximize revenue and awareness opportunities.
Partnership responsibilities include writing and negotiating contracts, as well as serving as the liaison between the Association and group and organizational partners to intake, triage, and evaluate external opportunities for the Association to advocate for constituents through supporter programs, panels, speaking engagements and events.
Travels to represent the Alzheimer’s Association among industry conferences. Attends regional and national meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Sound understanding of non-profit, business strategies and processes; such as sales, negotiation, and sponsorship strategy.
Proven account management experience with the skills to partner with groups and organizations to create fully integrated national partnerships.
Project management skills to monitor partner performance and needs across multiple accounts.
Access third party data to forecast performance, driving ongoing input to the annual Corporate Initiatives budget.
Extremely efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure.
Effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast paced environment.
Excellent written, oral, and communication skills. (Includes presentation delivery, conveying ideas, and instructing effectively both internally and externally.)
Ability to communicate in a friendly and positive manner with staff to provide fundraising guidance and key updates across field staff and internal stakeholders.
Ability to think strategically and determine long-term implications of decisions.
Ability to analyze complex situations and propose solutions which support the Association’s mission and vision.
Ability to build consensus and to work through others in achieving desired results and objectives.
Ability to work and make judgments independently and take initiative. Self-starter, requiring little supervision.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution.
10+ years of experience in national corporate account management and relationship development in a non-profit environment
5+ years of experience in national corporate recruitment and relationship development in a non-profit environment
