Though many industries experienced a downturn in the year of COVID-19, this was not the case for gaming. Not only did gaming survive, but with people spending more time in their homes, the sector thrived. The year saw the launch of several highly anticipated games as well as Next Gen Consoles that will define the future of gaming. One of the most significant console releases was the Xbox Series X console from Microsoft Xbox which was launched with the support of several creative marketing partnerships. Today we’re going to be focus on the Xbox Series X partnerships with Taco Bell and LG Electronics.

Taco Bell

Microsoft Xbox crafted a game promotion with Taco Bell to promote the release of the Xbox Series X gaming platform. The marketing partnership consisted of a giveaway in which Taco Bell customers had the exclusive chance to win the Xbox Series X console before it launched.

Program Specifics:

Starting September 24, 2020, Taco Bell customers who bought any medium or large drink received an exclusive code that could be entered for a chance to win the Xbox Series X. There were up to 3 entries per day per participant. Aimed at teens as well as adults, the partnership was supported with in-store and online/social media co-branded content.

The Xbox Series X launch was also supported with a partnership that further celebrated the relationship between gaming and tech. Microsoft Xbox partnered with LG Electronics on a promotion celebrating the Xbox Series X. The partnership celebrated the Xbox Series X by making LG Electronics‘ OLED TVs the Official TV Partner for the Xbox Series X.

Program Specifics:

LG Electronics have pushed OLED TVs as being ready for the next generation of video game technology which made it a perfect match for the Xbox Series X. The partnership was supported with LG OLED TVs and Xbox Series X consoles being showcased together at special retailer events.
