Last Call is celebrating the holidays with the 20in20 countdown of the theatrical marketing partnerships showcasing the year’s biggest promotional properties! Each day throughout the holiday season, we will feature a dive into the major promotions put together to support the release of one of the past year’s biggest properties.

The 2020 theatrical window prior to the pandemic forcing theaters to close but there was still an approximate two month time period where movies could be released as usual.

One such movie which benefitted from this good fortune was Universal Pictures‘ epic family adventure Dolitte, released in theaters in January 2020. With its $250.6 million worldwide box office gross, Dolittle stands as one of the most successful releases of 2020.

In addition to an all-star voice cast and lead performance from Robert Downey Jr, Universal Pictures was able to achieve box office success through several theatrical marketing partnerships. Today we are going to focus on the Dolittle partnerships with Frontier Airlines and Nature’s Path.

Frontier Airlines

Universal Pictures partnered with Frontier Airlines for an exciting promotion and sweepstakes that celebrated the release of Dolittle in theaters.

Program Specifics:

The promotion consisted of The Frontier Airlines Dolittle Sweepstakes, which awarded one grand prize winner a trip for 4 to Los Angeles, CA. The complete Grand Prize packaged included 4 round trip tickets via Frontier Airlines; 4 tickets to the world premiere of Dolittle on January 11; 2-night hotel accommodations; and 3-day car rental.

Dolittle fans entered the sweepstakes online for free with a maximum of one entry per person. To qualify, entrants had to be 18 years or older and be a resident of the United States. The sweepstakes ran from December 28, 2019 through December 31, 2019.

Nature’s Path

Universal Pictures partnered with Nature’s Path EnviroKidz for a multi-faceted on-pack and in-store promotion celebrating the theatrical release of Dolittle.

Program Specifics:

The partnership made Nature’s Path EnviroKidz the offical cereal partner of Dolittle. The partnership was promoted with on-pack branding featuring Dolittle.

In addition to the on-pack promotion, select boxes of Nature’s Path EnviroKidz cereals also included Dolittle characters cards. Fans and customers were encouraged to collect all 8 of the Dolittle character cards by purchasing Nature’s Path Envirokidz cereals.
