About the Show Writers: James Johnston and Bennett Yellin

James Robert Johnston was working as Patrick Stewart’s Creative Executive at Paramount Pictures when he began collaborating with Bennett Yellin.  Yellin had already been part of a long, fruitful partnership with Peter & Bobby Farrelly on projects like “Dumb and Dumber” and “Stuck on You.” As a team, the two spent nearly 15 years together, creating a variety of material with a strong emphasis on comedy and family-themed entertainment.  They were heavily involved in a series of rewrites for an epic animated film, “The Fourth Magi” (aka “The Fourth Wise Man”) from Lightstream Entertainment and director Paul Currie.  Soon after, they landed a gig on the Fox sitcom TV show “Unhitched.”

The two then embarked on a new “Marley and Me” film for Fox Family Entertainment and “Hotel for Dogs 2” for Paramount.  In 2014, Yellin returned to work with the Farrelly Brothers on “Dumb and Dumber To”.  Johnston and Yellin continued their collaboration on BFF, an original TV movie for Nickelodeon, as well as extensive rewrites for other Nickelodeon projects like “One Crazy Cruise” and “Dadzilla” In 2015 they wrote the holiday family comedy “Santa’s Little Helper for Fox Family.  In 2017, the duo joined a team assembled by renown comedy director Brian Levant to reboot Warner Brothers beloved “Police Academy” franchise.

In 2019, Bennett decided to pursue his childhood dream to work in themed entertainment.  He was hired by Super 78 Studios, one of the premier location-based entertainment designers, to do a comedy re-write for “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea: An Interactive Adventure” at Moody Gardens Aquarium in Galveston, Texas.  This unique 4D attraction combines immersive theming, on-site special effects, and 3D visuals with Super 78’s proprietary Geppetto Animated System to provide families with a unique, real-time interactive experience.
