Universal Pictures parntered with creative studio Ideas United for a promotion surrounding the theatrical release of 1917.

The patnership consisted of the 1917 One Shot Challenge which was a contest inviting up-and-coming filmmakers to submi a short film that was made with one single, continuous shot.Ideas United managed the open call for submissions through its network of filmmakers.

To enter, participants had to be at least 18-years-old and a resident of the U.S. Entrants uploaded their two-minute video to social media using the #1917oneshotchallenge and then shared the link to 1917oneshotchallenge.com. The contest ran until December 2, 2019 with the field narrowed by Ideas United before the winner was chosen by 1917 filmmakers.

The winner was invited, along with a guest, to the red carpet 1917 premiere in Los Angeles and had the chance to meet cast and crew for the film.
