Beyond Meat is supporting the American Cancer Society through
a licensing agreement and research investment that will help ACS continue
ongoing data collection in its Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS3) study and help
ACS continue to build a downstream cancer research portfolio that is critical
to understanding whether plant-based proteins, including plant-based meat, can
play a role in cancer prevention. ACS’
Cancer Prevention studies have helped
identify cancer risk factors utilizing its pool of more than 300,000
participants.
Additionally, Beyond Meat is paying a royalty fee for the
use of the ACS name and logo near products and related promotional materials in
retail partner (Kroger, Walmart, etc.) locations across the country.
This is the beginning of a multi-year partnership between
ACS and Beyond Meat. Over the next 3 years, the American Cancer Society will
build upon the infrastructure needed to include nutrition and plant-based meats
in future data collection in long-term studies exploring cancer prevention and
overall health.
For more information, read the full press release here.
