First USA Visa created two Austin themed cards to increase awareness of both the theatrical and home entertainment release of AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME and to increase application response and drive of First Card use. Applicants received 2 FREE movie tickets, 1 medium popcorn and 2 small drinks just for filling out a First USA Visa application. Qualifiers received a free video upon their first purchase. The program ran from May – October 1999 and was supported by 1 MM mailers (including direct mailings to college students), in-theater displays and applications, on campus acquisition drive offering free t-shirts as well as an application in video/DVD pack.
