Partnership:

Boys & Girls Clubs' “Whatever It Takes to Be a Hero” and The CW

Description:

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch participated in a virtual panel event on Saturday, November 7, 2020, encouraging children to be safe and healthy during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Titled "Whatever It Takes to Be a Hero," the streamed event kicks off a joint health initiative of The CW and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

BGCA's Clubs and Youth centers have had to reconfigure activities for youths during the pandemic amid restrictions around the United States on indoor and group activities, incorporating more virtual programming.

Hoechlin and Tulloch joined a panel, moderated by BGCA ambassadors, that talked about general health. The "Everyday Hero Challenge" afterward showed ways youths can be active in their local communities during COVID-19 and protect themselves and others.

The Whatever It Takes to be a Hero series is designed to encourage youth and teens to discuss how focusing on health and wellness are ways they are being a HERO for themselves and others. Teen moderators sat down with actors from The CW Networks CWverse Superhero TV shows to discuss what it means to be a hero and how we can all be everyday heroes.

"Whatever It Takes to Be a Hero" couples with The CW's "Real Heroes Wear Masks" poster campaign launched in August 2020. More than 4,400 BGCA Clubs and Youth Centers received copies of posters showing Arrowverse stars Hoechlin, Melissa Benoist (as Supergirl), Brec Bassinger (as Stargirl), Grant Gustin (as The Flash), Cress Williams (as Black Lightning), Nafessa Williams (as Thunder), Caity Lotz (as White Canary) and Beebo (from Legends of Tomorrow) wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
