Universal Pictures teamed with Ludia to create a How to Train Your Dragon mobile title, released in promotion of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD in theaters. The movie tie-in "Dragons: Titan Uprising" featured roleplay and collectable elements within a match-three framework. Players were able to collect and breed up to 100 varieties of winged lizards. The game tasked players with collecting and levelling-up dragons, and then assembling a team of five to battle villains. Combat took the form of a match-three puzzle, where gems players collected powered-up their dragon's special attacks. The RPG-puzzle format was faithful to the How To Train Your Dragon world and its characters.
