Universal Pictures and Subway teamed up to promote the theatrical release of LAND OF THE LOST. After the trailer for the film premiered during the Super Bowl on February 1, viewers were directed to www.subwayfreshbuzz.com/lotl to view it again. The Subway FreshBuzz site exclusively hosted the trailer for the months leading up to the film's release. The film's lizard-like aliens, known as Sleestaks, were featured in a TV spot produced by Subway, with the creatures requesting the chain's new limited edition Tuscan Chicken Melt sandwich, introduced around the film's release date of June 5. The commercial premiered during Saturday Night Live hosted by LAND OF THE LOST star Will Ferrell. Subway also made over one of its Santa Monica, CA stores, complete with jungle setting, dinosaurs and Sleestaks. Subway, which is briefly featured in the movie, also promoted the film at its 21,000 locations with signage and merchandise, as well as through exposure on its website. The promotion ran through July 5, 2009.
