Merlin Entertainments reached an agreement with Global Zhongjun Cultural Tourism Development Co., Ltd (Global Zhongjun) to build and and operate a LEGOLAND Resort in Sichuan Province in Western China. 

The agreement included Global Zhongjun funding the construction of the theme park, required infrastructure, and adjacent commercial developments. Merlin partnered with the resort's development and operated the resort under a management contract. 

The resort also included two fully-themed LEGOLAND Hotels.
