AMC and Hilton Hotels Corp. teamed up to promote the third season of MAD MEN with a “Live Like A Mad Man” Sweepstakes. Consumers could enter by booking a room at a Hilton Hotel online via a branded Mad Men page. Consumers who booked through the site were eligible for a special MAD MEN rate and were automatically entered in the sweepstakes. One Grand Prize winner received a three-night trip to New York to stay in the historic Waldorf-Astoria hotel, owned by Hilton Hotels. The grand prize also includes a professional makeover by one of the show’s stylists, a wardrobe item from the show, an autographed script from the show, DVD box sets of the first two seasons, and a bundle of gift cards redeemable at restaurants and other “Mad Men”-inspired locations around New York. The promotion ended November 15, 2009. The campaign was supported by a plot line on the show where the fictional Sterling Cooper agency receives the Hilton Hotels account after protagonist Don Draper befriends Conrad Hilton at a party.
