Description:

Nintendo has teamed up with popular retailer Uniqlo for a special t-shirt design competition. Uniqlo hosts a yearly global t-shirt contest called “Uniqlo T-shirt Grand Prix (UTGP)”. For UTGP17 and using Nintendo as a theme, fans were invited to submit t-shirt designs via special website, July 1 - August 13, 2016 for the chance to win a host of prizes.


Critically acclaimed video game designer and producer, Shigeru Miyamoto (aka Shiggy), along with a special Nintendo judging team, selected the grand prize winners and runners-up from the entries chosen by Uniqlo in the first stage. Characters from Pokémon, Super Mario and Donkey Kong, among others, could all be used in design submissions, and Uniqlo produced the winning designs for sale Spring 2017.


A Grand Prize winner received $10,000, plus an invitation to an awards ceremony where they could meet Shiggy, one of Nintendo’s new concept games console (tentatively called NX), autographed by Shiggy, and a special commemorative prize. Second prize was $3,000, plus the awards ceremony invitation and signed console, and the runner up prize was $500.
