Partnership:

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET: WRECK-IT RALPH 2 and eBay

Description:
Walt Disney Studios partnered with eBay to promote the theatrical release of RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET: WRECK-IT RALPH 2. In the film, eBay functioned as a key plot device. Characters needed to use the marketplace to buy an important item in order to return home and to their lives. The Disney film also introduced an eBay character called "eBoy," who periodically told Ralph and Vanellope how much time they had remaining to pony up cash before their purchase was cancelled from lack of funds. The two brands collaborated on an integrated marketing campaign and merchandise. eBay ran a 30-second TV spot showcasing its starring turn. It also amped up its social mentions about the film, and had a dedicated merchandise site.
