Universal Pictures partnered with Regal Entertainment Group to promote the film, RIDDICK. Regal Entertainment Group created a contest called, Regal Fan Art Challenge. Contestants were able to submit poster designs on regalfanartchallenge.com. The posters submitted had to be 12" wide x 18" height with a 300 dpi. The contestants were also given official templates for logos and title art, which were not required in their design. On Thursday, August 15, 2013, Regal announced Vin Diesel`s chosen winning poster design. The chosen design would be used as the official theatrical poster for RIDDICK and would be displayed on poster cases across the country. In addition to winning the contest, the winner also received a three day and two night all expense paid trip for two trip to Los Angeles for the screening of RIDDICK on the opening weekend (September 6-8) and a framed autographed copy of their poster design. RIDDICK was released in theaters on September 6, 2013
