Starting December 2nd, consumers could purchase official STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Google Cardboard viewers available exclusively at select Verizon Stores. With the viewer, fans were able to experience “Awaken the Force Within,” a video content series that ties in to the film. The viewers came in BB-8, R2-D2, Kylo Ren and the Stormtrooper designs and are compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

Contest

VERIZON also offered their customers the chance to win opening weekend tickets on theorywars.com. To enter, avid fans could either submit their theory of what happened in the film from a pre-selected theories list with the option to customize, or by simply selecting “enter to win.” The sweepstakes ran from December 10th through December 15th, 2015. Winners were randomly selected and received two tickets to see the film at select theatres. Over 12,000 tickets were given away.

Customized Phone

Fans could also create their own Droid Turbo 2 smartphone from five different and distinct designs. Using the Moto Maker customization tool, they could customize with color palates and backing materials based on the characters from the film.

Fan Q&A

VERIZON presented the official livestream of the red carpet on starwars.com. Fans were able to submit their burning questions to the stars on the red carpet when they tweet #TheForceAwakens and tag @Verizon.

Only current VERIZON customers were eligible to participate in the sweepstakes and other offers. VERIZON promoted the partnership on their official social media pages along with a set of TV spots.
