Universal Pictures and Castrol EDGE teamed up to promote THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS with a performance driving challenge, which offered fans an exclusive taste of the action from the latest installment of the franchise. In the Titanium Ice Challenge, a world-first stunt staged in the Yukon, actress Michelle Rodriguez challenged her stunt driver, Debbie Evans’ Jaguar F-TYPE 5.0 Supercharged V* R AWD – with the strength of Castrol EDGE – to compete against a mixed-reality army of military tanks, nuclear submarines, helicopters, missiles, explosions and shattering ice. Castrol EDGE’s short Titanium Trial film was released in advance of the theatrical release of THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS.

Castrol EDGE also worked with experts from production studio UNIT9 to develop a bespoke headset, which blended computer-generated images with live action, to create the most intense driving experiences imaginable. The subzero challenge involved a mixed-reality world coming to life through the stunt driver’s visor.

Additionally, customers who purchased Castrol Motor Oil from February 22 - May 31, 2017 also received a Fandango Rewards credit to go see the film.
