New Line Cinema and Scholastic Media teamed up to promote the theatrical release of THE GOLDEN COMPASS through a "Golden Compass Student Sweepstakes." The sweepstakes was only open to students grades 8-12. Contestents entered on the scholastic website and winners were picked at random. 500 winners received symbolic polar bear posters from WWF, "His Dark Marbles" trillogy set, movie pass packages, and DVD's of THE GOLDEN COMPASS. Five grand prize winners won a hometown movie screening of THE GOLDEN COMPASS for themselves and up to 200 guests. The sweepstakes ended November 21, 2007.
