Warner Bros. partnered with the National Wildlife Federation for the theatrical release of THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY. The NWF hosted an online sweepstakes where participants had to www.nwf.org and fill out an online entry form. Students, teachers and parents were encouraged to share what actions they took to improve their environment ("Shire"). One Grand Prize winner was selected to receive a private screening of the film with 100 of their guests. Two runner ups received a family 4-pack of tickets to see the film in IMAX. The sweepstakes ran from November 26, 2012 through December 13, 2012. Also in partnership with Warner Bros., the National Wildlife Federation hosted a page on their website dedicated to THE HOBBIT. The NWF offered a downloadable poster of the film as well as exclusive content and information. THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY released in theaters December 14, 2012.
