Wal-Mart and ABC partnered to promote the summer reality TV series, THE SCHOLAR. Wal-Mart sponsored THE SCHOLAR and while The Broad Foundation funded the winner of the show's college tuition, Wal-Mart gave secondary scholarships to the other contestants of the show. Furthermore, Wal-Mart bought ad time and provided merchandise, such as dorm room gear.
