AMC and Mountain Dew teamed up to promote the eighth season of THE WALKING DEAD and a new augmented reality app that allowed consumers to experience some of the show’s most iconic zombie walkers in their own real-world environments and then share the interactions via social media. The partnership included extensive on-pack and in-store branding and character images on more than 100 million individual Mountain Dew products in store locations nationwide. Consumers who also downloaded the augmented reality app could also unlock walkers in two ways: scanning specially marked Mountain Dew products at store locations and during Mountain Dew commercial breaks during live episodes of the show throughout the season.
