Partnership:

Warner Bros. Pictures and Google

Description:

Warner Bros. Pictures and Google partnered to create an app based on FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM in support of the film's theatrical release.  Google's Daydream virtual reality platform allowed users to be a wizard waving around a wand, casting spells within VR.  The app also used Google’s new VR headset, Google’s Daydream View.

The partnership with Google also expanded to Google Maps where users were able to look up four New York City locations from the movie and see them both on a street grid and as a 360-degree street view circa 1926, the year of the film took place. By typing in locales such as MACUSA, Steen National Bank, and the Blind Pig, users were directed to images of those locations from the film.

Google Android phones were looped into the promotion through "OK Google" voice activation. Google Android phones responded to three magic spells from the movie. By saying, "OK Google, Lumos," the phone's flashlight turned on. "Nox" turned the flashlight off, and "silencio" silenced the phone. Google also launched stickers on the new Google Allo Messenger App for Android and iOS phones, which launched in September 2016, and it recreated a set from the film at its YouTube Space in London, where YouTube influencers were able to shoot video.
