Description:

MLB and Youtube teamed up for the 3 successive year in a row to return MLB's Game of the Week Live on YouTube for the 2021 MLB season.

This season, there was 21 MLB games that fans could watch for free on YouTube. Fans could watch the broadcast for free via YouTube on any device, including YouTube apps on smart TV's by tuning into MLB's YouTube Chanel. 

All 21 broadcasted were produced by MLB Network's production team and inlcuded an exclusive 3o minute pre-game show on YouTube and viewers voting for their player of the game. The Player of the Game, voted for by the fans, recieved a trophy for his in-game acomplishments. 

The deal in part represented a continuation by MLB to stretch the boundaries of its media distribution strategy and reach fans not necessarily served by the league’s existing relationships with national and regional sports networks.

The MLB x Youtube partnership also featured the return of the live chat featuring game commentary from over 40 sports-focused YouTube creators, in-game polls, the ability to re-watch key plays tied to the exact moment they are watching, and real-time stats from the game.
