Depop and Spotify announced a new partnership connecting music and secondhand fashion, spotlighting emerging artists, style, and culture discovery.
On Spotify, users get a co-branded editorial-curated playlist, artist content, and in-app experiences spotlighting a variety of music scenes. On Depop, shoppers can browse artist storefronts curated around music cultures, discovering new artists while shopping.
Six artists — Eve, Amira Elfeky, Estevie, Frost Children, House of Protection, and Lily Meola — each curated a personal collection from their own wardrobe on Depop, paired with a Spotify playlist of their music.
Steve Dool, Depop's senior director of brand and creative, said the partnership unites two culturally embedded brands around creativity and self-expression, noting fashion and music "have always gone hand in hand." Matt Luhks, Spotify's senior director of global marketing, said the exclusive playlist lets fans "trace the thread" between what these artists wear, listen to, and create.
Rollout: the artist-curated Spotify playlist unveils Tuesday, the six Depop storefronts launch Wednesday, and Thursday–Friday brings a two-day activation at the Hollywood Premiere Motel on Hollywood Boulevard, with live performances, genre-inspired closet displays, and fashion edits.
This continues Depop's pattern of music-space partnerships (Kacey Musgraves, Zara Larsson, Governors Ball, and the upcoming Olivia Rodrigo-founded Daisy Chain Fields festival) and comes shortly after Depop's $1.2 billion acquisition by eBay closed on July 30.
