Walt Disney Studios partnered with the Wildlife Conservation Network for a "Protect the Pride" promotion tied into the theatrical release of THE LION KING.

The two companies collaborated on "Protect the Pride," global conservation campaign raising awareness and support for declining lion populations across Africa.

The Wildlife Conservation Network's Lion Recovery Fund received an initial donation of $1.5 million from Disney who then invited fans to double the overall contribution up to $3 million. Fans could participate in the conservation promotion by joining in on celebratory experiences and purchasing special edition products.
