Partnership:

Tinder, Inc. and Sami Miró

Description:

Tinder is giving new meaning to moving on. The dating app has launched ExCycle, a bold new initiative that transforms emotionally charged clothing from past relationships into fresh, upcycled fashion. Created in partnership with renowned sustainable designer Sami Miró, ExCycle offers singles a creative and cathartic way to redefine their wardrobes—and themselves.

Breaking Up, But Making Upcycled Fashion
The ExCycle program officially kicked off with a launch event in New York City, where style-savvy singles gathered to give their ex’s hoodies, shirts, and old date-night outfits a second life. Attendees brought in garments with personal history, received expert style consultations, and participated in live customization sessions—all with the goal of turning breakup baggage into something empowering and fashion-forward.

“Two-thirds of Americans admit to holding onto clothes from an ex,” said Devin Colleran, Tinder’s Head of Brand. “Rather than letting those pieces sit in a drawer or stir up old memories, we wanted to offer a way to turn them into something new—something that reflects who you are today.”

From Heartbreak to Haute Couture
At the heart of ExCycle is the idea that clothing holds emotional weight—and that transforming those items can also transform perspective. Designer Sami Miró, known for her work in sustainable and upcycled fashion, personally interviewed participants to understand their style preferences before reinventing their garments into one-of-a-kind statement pieces.

“It’s about honoring the past while stepping into the future,” said Miró. “Each upcycled piece tells a story—not of heartbreak, but of personal evolution.”

A Community-Driven Wardrobe Refresh
To extend the reach of the campaign, Tinder hosted a public ExCycle event at NYC’s Tumbao, inviting attendees to swap clothes, get styled, and reflect on the journey of letting go. The hands-on, community-focused activation reinforced Tinder’s commitment to connection—not just with others, but with oneself.

“The feedback has been incredible,” said Miró. “This program proves that fashion can be more than aesthetic—it can be healing, expressive, and empowering.”

Swiping Right on a Fresh Start
Whether it’s a forgotten hoodie from an old flame or a first-date dress that no longer brings joy, ExCycle gives singles the tools to reclaim their narrative. With style as the medium, Tinder is redefining what it means to move on—one upcycled outfit at a time.
