Paramount Pictures and General Motors teamed up to promote the theatrical release of TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN with multiple product placements in the film. The plot revolves around the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons. The Autobots (pre-transformation) appear as various models of General Motors vehicles. The models included in the film are a fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro, a GMC Topkick, a Hummer H2, a a SR-71 Blackbird, a Chevrolet Volt, and a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept car. In total, General Motors provided 67 vehicles, 52 of them being prototypes not intended for sale. The campaign was supported by a minimal national television effort. The original marketing plan expected General Motors to contribute more money but after filing for bankruptcy, the automotive giant substantially cut its marketing budget.
