Sony Pictures Entertainment partnered with Italian football club AS Roma to promote the theatrical release of VENOM. The partnership leveraged the club’s famously eccentric tone on social media and its slew of football superstars to create a unique video advertisement for the film. In the video spot, AS Roma stars Daniele De Rossi, Kostas Manolas, Justin Kluivert and Antonio Mirante were featured getting enthralled by the venom parasite, made famous in Marvel’s Spider-Man comics. Club legend Francesco Totti also starred. American-owned Roma used its wide reach to stoke interest in VENOM which was released in theaters October 5, 2018.
