Google and Samsung teamed to launch the Youtube VR application to the Samsung Gear. The "3D world" app full of content specially formatted for VR devices became available from the Oculus Store as a free download for Samsung's Gear VR virtual reality video service that turns certain Samsung phones into basic VR devices. YouTube VR offered additional exclusive content to users this summer, bolstering its existing collection of 800,000 VR experiences. New videos included behind-the-scenes looks at musicians and a game-themed racing video, along with other exclusive content. Users also got the ability to watch and discuss videos with others in a communal, virtual space.
